The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Energy Consultant – Renewable Energy & Power Systems to join our growing Energy team in Bogotá, Colombia.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of complex and impactful energy projects across Latin America, supporting clients as they advance the energy transition and develop the next generation of renewable energy and power infrastructure assets.

The successful candidate will work as part of multidisciplinary teams on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning Solar PV, Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Hydropower, Transmission and Substation infrastructure. Assignments may include technical advisory, owner's engineering, lender's technical advisory, technical due diligence, feasibility studies, project development support, and construction monitoring.

Working alongside experienced project managers and technical specialists, you will contribute to project delivery, technical assessments, engineering studies, client engagement activities, and proposal development. This role provides the opportunity to gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while developing technical, project management, and consulting skills within a collaborative and internationally connected environment.

Candidates may have a primary area of technical interest or specialization; however, they should be enthusiastic about working across multiple technologies and contributing to a broad range of energy infrastructure projects.

The role will involve collaboration with developers, investors, lenders, utilities, EPC contractors, and public-sector organizations across Latin America, providing valuable exposure to the evolving energy sector and supporting long-term professional growth within Arup's global Energy practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of multidisciplinary energy projects across Latin America, contributing to high-quality technical and consulting services for clients in the energy sector.
• Assist in the execution of projects involving Solar PV, Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Hydropower, Transmission, and Substation infrastructure across various stages of the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical advisory assignments, including technical due diligence, lender's technical advisory, owner's engineering, feasibility studies, project development support, and construction monitoring activities.
• Perform technical analyses, engineering assessments, data reviews, and preparation of technical reports, presentations, and project deliverables.
• Support project managers in planning and coordinating project activities, including schedule management, resource planning, risk management, and project reporting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Arup's global network to deliver integrated and innovative solutions for clients.
• Participate in client meetings, workshops, and technical discussions, supporting effective communication with project stakeholders.
• Contribute to proposal preparation, business development initiatives, market research, and client engagement activities.        
• Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and developments within the renewable energy and power sectors.
• Support knowledge sharing and contribute to the continuous improvement of technical practices, tools, and methodologies within the Energy team.
• Develop technical, project management, and consulting skills through active participation in challenging projects and collaboration with experienced professionals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Master's degree desired in a relevant engineering or energy-related discipline.
• Typically 4 years of relevant professional experience within the renewable energy, power, utilities, infrastructure, or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Solar PV
  • Wind Energy
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Hydropower
  • Transmission Systems
  • Substations and Power Infrastructure
• Understanding of renewable energy project development and/or the delivery of energy infrastructure projects across different project phases.
• Experience supporting engineering, technical advisory, due diligence, feasibility studies, owner's engineering, project development, construction monitoring, or related technical assignments would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical information and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, presentations, and client-facing deliverables.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
• Experience working with developers, utilities, contractors, investors, lenders, or other energy-sector stakeholders would be considered an asset.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken, is required.
