This is a landmark opportunity to spearhead Arup's burgeoning energy business in Germany. You will be instrumental in establishing and scaling our presence, drawing on Arup's global expertise to deliver transformative low-carbon solutions. We're seeking a visionary leader to define our strategy, cultivate a dynamic team, and drive our growth in this critical market, directly contributing to Germany's energy transition and Arup's global ambitions.

You will have the autonomy to shape our market approach, forge strategic client relationships at the highest levels, and build a high-performing team dedicated to delivering innovative solutions in High Voltage Networks, Energy Storage, and Renewable Energy. As our Energy Business Leader – Germany at Arup, you will:
- Strategically develop & execute: Define and implement the market entry and growth strategy for Arup's energy business in Germany, identifying and prioritising key opportunities.
- Drive market penetration & client engagement: Cultivate and expand senior-level client relationships across utilities, developers, investors, and government bodies, positioning Arup as a trusted advisor and partner.
- Lead & inspire: Build, mentor, and lead a motivated, high-performing energy team in Germany, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Champion technical excellence & growth in key segments: Drive business development and project acquisition with a focus on High Voltage Networks, Energy Storage, and Renewable Energy, ensuring solutions meet client needs and Arup's quality standards.
- Collaborate & leverage: Work closely with European and global colleagues to bring the best of Arup's international expertise to the German market, ensuring brand coherence and maximising our collective impact.
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about developing the German energy market strategy. We also value:
· Someone who can build strong client relationships, identify opportunities to meet their needs, and expand our presence in the market by leveraging both local knowledge and global expertise
· 20+ years of experience in the energy sector, with a strong focus on high-voltage systems, network infrastructure, and energy storage solutions.
· Demonstrated ambition to drive growth with a start-up mindset, particularly over the past decade, taking ownership and initiative in shaping strategy and delivery.
· Excellent communication, influencing, and leadership skills — fluent in both German and English — with a proven ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
· Strong commercial awareness with a client-focused approach, capable of identifying opportunities, developing long-term partnerships, and contributing to business growth.
