The Opportunity
Design power distribution, lighting controls, grounding, and lightning protection systems with respect to buildings and infrastructure projects
Short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load, and arc flash studies
Lighting photometric calculations
Assign circuitry for Power and Lighting devices
Technical report writing
Work on projects using Revit MEP
Contribute to the development of reports and electrical calculations
Work with people from other teams and/or vendors to learn about new subjects
Attend meetings - listen, ask questions. Be involved in discussions with other teams and Architects to gain knowledge & experience
Is this role right for you?
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering (BSAE) required
Shown curiosity about the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the field
Experience with Microsoft Office
Skills in planning and coordinating
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing
Demeanor of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork
Strong interpersonal and communication skills crucial for team-based working
Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
Preferred:
Eligible to become a member of the PEO/OIQ/APEGA
Coursework in building systems design, electrical power systems design, control systems, electric machines, and codes and standards
Internship experience in a consulting firm with emphasis on buildings electrical power system design
Electrical testing
Shown curiosity about sustainability as evidenced by extracurricular activities or other indication
Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry
Experience with Revit MEP, MicroStation, AGI 32, SKM Power Tools
Consistent record of performing in a deadline driven environment
Evidence of collaboration and leadership such as professional accomplishment or honor society

Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $21 to $38 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
