Joining Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
We are looking for an experienced Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Officer to lead on-site safety for complex, fast-paced data center or mission-critical projects. This role requires hands-on site leadership, regulatory expertise, and the ability to manage contractor behaviour while fostering a culture of accountability and safety excellence. You’ll work closely with project, contractor, and authority stakeholders to ensure full compliance, incident prevention, and continual safety improvement. This role is a contract role with a duration of 14 months.
The Opportunity
• Manage all site safety operations, drive contractor compliance, and intervene proactively to prevent incidents.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments, safety briefings, and investigations in alignment with OSHA, OSHAA 2022, and DOSH standards.
• Liaise directly with authorities such as DOSH and BOMBA, providing accurate incident reports and regulatory responses.
• Track safety KPIs using leading and lagging indicators to identify issues and implement effective action plans.
• Lead behavioural change on site by proposing innovative safety strategies, ensuring accountability, and delivering consistent reporting.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
• A valid Green Book with SHO registration and 10+ years of site-based experience managing contractors.
• Proven experience in data center or mission-critical environments, ideally with Mandarin-speaking capability.
• Deep knowledge of DOSH, OSHA 1994, and OSHAA 2022 compliance requirements.
• Strong skills in reporting, incident investigation, and contractual interpretation related to safety obligations.
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the confidence to lead, influence, and implement real change—not just paperwork.
