The Opportunity
We are looking for a Consultant to join our Economics & Casemaking team in Leeds, part of a national practice working at the forefront of shaping cities and places.
You’ll support a wide range of projects across regeneration, economic development, infrastructure and growth, helping clients build compelling cases for investment, develop strategies for inclusive and sustainable growth, and deliver complex programmes. This includes contributing to business cases, strategy and vision documents, socio‑economic analysis, impact assessments and social value work.
Working as part of collaborative, multidisciplinary project teams, you’ll engage with public sector clients, developers and other stakeholders, providing clear, evidence‑based advice in dynamic and often long‑term environments. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Arup, including planners, designers, transport and sustainability specialists.
You don’t need experience in every area. We’re an inclusive team and welcome applicants with a strong interest in cities, regions and the built environment, who are keen to learn, grow and make a positive impact from day one.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated and enjoys working collaboratively. You’ll bring:
- A degree (or working towards one) in economics, geography, regeneration, real estate, public or social policy, business, town planning or a related built‑environment discipline
- Strong written communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging reports and presentations
- Confidence communicating verbally, including contributing to meetings, workshops and presentations
- Analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret data and synthesise information
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working as part of a team
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
- A genuine interest in the built environment, including urban regeneration, housing, transport, net zero and related current affairs
Experience with tools such as GIS, PowerBI, economic modelling or Better Business Case training is welcomed but not essential.
