The Roads and Streets team within our Perth office is looking for a proactive and driven Lead Drainage Engineer to own and deliver projects and bring fresh ideas to enhance the way we work. You will be required to liaise with internal and external teams to take a lead on coordination activities.

The existing team is technically strong, has a very inclusive culture, and is a great place to further develop your career. We need a new Lead Drainage Engineer to join us to help deliver a very strong pipeline of interesting and varied of major roads, civil and rail infrastructure projects. 

Our pipeline of work will also connect you into a network of interstate and international projects, leveraging Arup’s truly global business model and philosophy.

Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in applying a variety of civil engineering skills in a consulting environment, with a strong emphasis on stormwater management, drainage design, water sensitive urban design and water quality management. You should be technically strong, able to work independently and as part of a team, energised to assist with our digital transformation, driven towards better sustainable designs and motivated to help reduce effects from climate change. You should be driven by technical excellence and keen to teach and mentor others in our drainage team.

The Opportunity

•    You will work without supervision, referring up as necessary, on works associated primarily with drainage design for roads and streets
•    You will undertake design and technical consultation in stormwater drainage including WSUD
•    Your work will involve leading the drainage design on highway and major infrastructure projects.  This will include client liaison, design, technical documentation, reporting, cost estimates, and tender submissions
•    In achieving this you will be responsible for scheduling work to meet deadlines, monitoring budgets and resourcing and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets in your own area
•    You will represent Arup at internal and external meetings and events and you may be responsible for designing and delivering events, activities and projects which impact the business

Is this role right for you? 

•    Recognised degree in Civil Engineering
•    Detailed knowledge and understanding of the following civil engineering areas: Highways and Urban Roads, Stormwater, including Water Quality, Erosion and Sediment Control, Water Quality
•    Knowledge and understanding of the following civil engineering areas, in particular their interface with drainage design: Earthworks, Utilities
•    Has produced concept and detailed design drawings, reports and specifications for drainage design on highway projects
•    Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies (including Chartered Status from the Institution of Engineers Australia)
