The Opportunity
This is your chance to join our Digital Services team in Milan. We are looking for people with analytical skills and a passion for consulting on complex projects in the built environment: on a building, city, and infrastructure scale.
The Digital Team delivers Digital Services to our clients and Data and Automation Services to the other teams in the Arup Group. Digital runs through everything we do from software development, computational design, data analysis to digital strategy and advisory work – determined to enhance the world around us. Our work combines digital innovation, creativity, emerging technology, with the multidisciplinary breadth of Arup.
The Role
We are currently seeking for both recent graduates and undergraduates for the Digital Service Team of Italy Group. The successful candidate(s) will be integrated into a dynamic team and will participate in all the cutting-edge projects carried out in the department.
As a Digital Advisory Trainee at Arup you will:
Collaborate on projects in the field of digital transformation for different clients from the public and private sector
Prepare deliverables for the client under the supervision of senior team members and project managers
Assist in the preparation of offers and tenders
Collaborate across a wide range of work areas, including sustainability and data consultancy for smart buildings, cities, infrastructure and digital twins.
Join and actively collaborate with a team of computational designers, engineers, data scientists and developers.
Automate design and/or engineering workflows
Contribute to the development of web applications (front-end, back-end, APIs, etc.)
Develop data visualisation dashboards and tools
Learn how to manage and design data solutions to solve the challenges associated with complex engineering problems
Collaborate on technical solutions able to optimally solve the needs of our clients
Coordinate your work with other members of Digital teams in Europe

We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic who is willing to develop their career in this area. Ideally, you’ll bring:
Currently Graduate or Undergraduate studying Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science or similar with interest or experience in programming and digital solutions.
Data-driven analytical thinking and problem solving.
Driven by curiosity and passion for innovative and creative technical solutions
Basic programming skills in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Python, C#, or C++ and experience/interest in BIM/GIS or other AEC-related technologies.
To feel comfortable working as a generalist specialist: able to work on different topics and projects and be able to delve deeper into some areas related to the built environment.
A collaborative style of working that fosters innovation, learning and team working. Flexibility, multi-disciplinary approach and good communication skills.
To enjoy a creative and unpredictable process, thrive in a rapidly changing environment, and be enthusiastic about designing strategies and methodologies to address complex problems.
High level of English and basic Italian.
