Computational Designer
Warsaw or Kraków, Poland
Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Poland.
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
Our Europe Central computational design team develops automation workflows, parametric models and digital tools that help engineers work more efficiently. Based across Warsaw, Krakow and Amsterdam, the team supports projects and disciplines including structural engineering, BIM, aviation, MEP and project management.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a growing Poland-based capability and create visible impact on live engineering projects. You will work directly with engineers to understand complex challenges, map workflows and develop practical automation solutions that improve quality, efficiency and consistency.
As a Computational Designer at Arup, you will:
Translate engineering challenges into practical digital solutions, scripts and reusable automation workflows.
Engage with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to understand needs, map processes and define clear requirements.
Develop and implement tools using technologies such as Grasshopper, C#, Python and relevant engineering software APIs.
Present proposed solutions, gather feedback and support teams in adopting new digital tools and ways of working.
Collaborate across disciplines and projects, sharing knowledge and contributing beyond a narrow coding remit.
Does this role inspire you?
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about digital innovation in the built environment and motivated by making engineering work more effective. You do not need to meet every criterion exactly. If this opportunity excites you and you believe you can contribute, we encourage you to apply.
An engineering background in structural, civil, architectural, bridge, BIM, geospatial engineering or a related built-environment discipline, together with relevant professional experience.
Hands-on experience 4+ years in computational design or engineering automation, with strong capability in Grasshopper and C#. Python, parametric design and BIM/CAD automation are also valuable.
Experience developing plugins or API integrations for engineering platforms such as Autodesk, Tekla or Bentley products. Familiarity with Revit and Rhino.Inside would be beneficial.
The ability to understand engineering problems, map workflows and turn them into clear, usable digital solutions across disciplines.
Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder-engagement skills, with fluent English. Polish language skills are preferred, although strong English-speaking candidates are welcome to apply.
Additional experience with agentic AI or 3D reinforcement workflows would be welcomed but is not essential.
