Civil Engineering Intern (Available June 2025)

The opportunity
Application of responsibilities to site development and transportation projects involving a wide range of site/civil design for roadways, railways, airports, data centers, industrial facilities and parks/open space.
- Use Civil 3D or MicroStation software to layout roads, multi-use paths, flood barriers, drainage systems and utility systems as well as site grading and earthwork designs
- Use Hydraulic modeling tools such as Autodesk Storm and Sanitary, InfoWorks, and PCSWMM to analyze and design stormwater and flood protection systems
- Perform data collection, research, and apply codes, specifications and standards for design of the above elements
- Coordinate with other disciplines to apply skills in delivering sustainable outcomes
- Apply understanding of all phases of the planning, design and construction process
- Research requirements of regulatory environment for gaining approval at different stages of project delivery
- Engage with project stakeholders and clients to develop designs that meets needs and concerns
- Support development of drawings, reports, calculation packages, and specifications
- Perform pre-construction and construction-phase site visits

Required
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, or relevant engineering degree
- Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals
- Experience with CAD software
- Professional demeanor
- Good communication skills essential for team-based working
- Ability to perform in a deadline driven environment
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
Preferred
- Ability to gain EIT/ FE Certification within 1 year of graduation
- Preference for transportation and infrastructure project work
- Proficient with civil engineering design and analysis tools for roads, stormwater, and/or utility systems
- Knowledge of Civil 3D CAD software and MicroStation
- Personal investment in academic or extracurricular field

Boston Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Boston is $23.50 to $35.00 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Boston, MA will differ.
