Arup has had a presence in Canada for over 15 years. Through established offices in Toronto and Montreal, we assist with the planning and design of prominent projects in the built environment. Our work helps to shape our cities through better transportation, healthcare, education, recreation, and commercial infrastructure across Canada and beyond.

We’re currently looking for a Civil Engineer to join the team in Toronto. Our Infrastructure team is working with a wide range of clients on innovative projects across Ontario and Quebec. The team brings together many of the skills and services available across Arup, from geotechnics, bridge design and tunnels, to rail and highway design.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking design of roadways, storm water drainage, sanitary sewers, water supply and dry utilities often associated with LRT projects.
  • Undertaking hydrology studies and hydraulic analysis
  • Assisting senior staff on a variety of projects such as LRT, subway and other transportation and site development projects across Canada;
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and working in conjunction with project managers to help complete assigned tasks
  • Performing construction phase engineering support and site supervision
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding trends and best practices in the transportation market;
  • Participating in local Professional Associations

 

The Qualified Professional will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in civil/infrastructure projects
  • Professional designation (P.Eng/EIT) is an asset
  • Experience using engineering design software such as Civil 3D, Microstation, InRoads, InfoWorks, and hydraulic modelling tools
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, manage deadlines and exceptional organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
