Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
We are seeking a technically proficient Civil Engineer to join our Melbourne Civil team and contribute to the delivery of complex infrastructure and development projects across highways, rail, energy, aviation, master-planning, and site development sectors. In this role, you will lead the delivery of civil design packages, provide expert technical guidance in 12d modelling, and support the development of junior engineers within a collaborative and high-performing team. Working across multidisciplinary projects, you will help deliver sustainable and innovative engineering solutions that create a positive impact for clients, communities, and the environment.
The Opportunity
· Lead the delivery of civil design packages, including 12d modelling for earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, and finished surface levels.
· Undertake technical design and consultation across key civil engineering disciplines, including stormwater management, WSUD, flood risk management, pavements, and utilities.
· Review, develop, and coordinate 12d models while mentoring and training junior engineers in surface design, drainage design, and utility coordination.
· Manage project delivery activities including scheduling, resource planning, budget monitoring, and expenditure control to achieve project objectives.
· Represent the civil team in internal and external meetings, providing technical expertise and building strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role for you?
· A recognised degree in Civil Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant industry experience within a consulting environment.
· Strong technical expertise in civil engineering design, including earthworks, roads, stormwater drainage, pavements, flood management, and utilities.
· Proficiency in 12d software for surface and road design is required. Experience in drainage and utilities design using 12d is desirable but not essential. A working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation is also desirable.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
· A collaborative leadership style, commitment to mentoring others, and a passion for sustainable design, innovation, and continuous professional development.
