Civil Alignment Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Alignment Engineer with strong experience in both transportation alignment design and broader civil infrastructure engineering. The role requires expertise in horizontal and vertical alignment development for highways and rail systems, combined with practical civil design experience covering earthworks, drainage, utilities coordination, grading, and multidisciplinary infrastructure integration.
The ideal candidate will be capable of undertaking the detailed design independently while coordinating with civil, structural, geotechnical, drainage, and utilities teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments for highway and rail infrastructure projects.
- Prepare alignment layouts, corridor models, profiles, cross-sections, and geometric design calculations.
- Conduct design compliance checks against relevant highway and railway standards and client requirements.
- Provide detailed design work across a broad range of projects within Civil engineering and related areas.
- You will be required to work with minimal supervision in your area of responsibility, and you may be accountable for defined parts of design projects;
- You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of your work;
- You will represent your team or area at internal meetings, and you may be responsible for organising events, activities or small internal business projects;
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of detailed tender submissions and presentations.
- Prepare project reports for clients summarising key issues and strategically advising on best outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders.

Is this role right for you?
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil & Structural Engineering or similar area;
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in Rail / Highway Alignment and Civil & Structural works within a consulting business environment;
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership;
- Familiar with British/Malaysian and other international Codes and Practices, knowledge of EuroCode and BIM Standard is an added advantage.
- Experience using Autodesk (CAD, Civil 3D, Civil 3D Bonus: Infrawork, Naviswork)
- Awareness/knowledge of digital tools and software is preferred (e.g. ArcGIS, OpenRoad, MITS, IPANET, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Rhinoceros 3D, Bluebeam, ProjectWise, or similar);
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, AHJ / authority’s requirement and guidelines – and Arup’s related procedures including OH&S
