CAD/ BIM/ Digital Assistant Manager- Birmingham

Nationally we are engaged in significant highways projects such as the Silvertown Thames Tunnel and the Forth Replacement Crossing.  Client involvement includes Highways England frameworks such as CDF and SPaTS, the Smart Motorway Programme, and several design and build links with major contractors. 

Our expertise is also a critical component of a multidisciplinary offer on projects such as HS2. Approximately 1200 staff work on highway projects in the UK each year, successfully delivering integrated, multidisciplinary projects for our clients.

The Role

The role is based at the Arup ‘Campus’ in Solihull, flexible working to work remotely can be offered. You will be required to support the current ProjectWise Manager in the preparation and modification of 2D and 3D model / reference files. Ensuring drawing compliance with internal (and Client) CAD systems and standards.  You will be responsible for checking and reviewing drawings to ensure QA processes are followed and CAD and BIM standards are maintained. Managing project Common Data Environment and assisting with digital design reviews. Your role will have an element of asset Management and supervision, mentoring of junior staff. You will be required to actively participate in continual Improvement in BIM and Digital capability.

To achieve in this role you will have…


  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in civil engineering or equivalent
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office Suite

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Full Working knowledge of Bentley MicroStation or AutoCAD
  • An understanding of BIM, BS1192 workflow and the requirements concerning co-ordination of large numbers of drawing and model file sets
  • Experience of running multi discipline design reviews using AutoDesk Navisworks and/or Bentley Navigator
  • Experience of working on infrastructure projects in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • Understanding of asset tagging
  • Understanding of uniclass 2015 classification
  • Knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise Explorer (SS4 preferable)
  • Knowledge of Bentley InRoads SS2, InRoads SS4 (OpenRoads) or OpenRoads designer
  • Experience of Aecosim
  • Experience of Revit
  • Experience of GIS
