Buildings Control Systems Engineer


Due to ongoing success in winning projects in Ireland and abroad, we are seeking a Building Control Systems Engineer to join our Dublin office and work with our specialist controls team in our Building Engineering group in our Dublin office. We are a group of over 100 multi-disciplinary engineers working in an interesting and friendly office environment on a diverse and challenging range of design projects across all sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, data centres, retail, leisure and educational. You will work in the controls team on a variety of projects designing the controls systems on projects through all stages from initial brief through scheme & detailed design to installation and commissioning support. This is a permanent role and offers excellent prospects for career development.


The successful candidate will be a qualified engineer with several years post-qualification experience in buildings control systems design looking to further their career within a leading edge consultancy on a variety of projects. With our commitment to training and development and our CPD accreditation from the Institution of Engineers of Ireland you can expect to build on your experience and skills in a supportive and challenging environment.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications required:

  • Degree in Controls, Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Services engineering

  • Working towards achieving Chartered Engineer status

  • Strong post-qualification design experience in buildings control systems

  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations

  • Competent in relevant design software

  • Team player

  • Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients through sketching, drawing and in writing

  • Willingness to travel

  • Motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges


Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing the controls systems and commissioning on projects to optimise buildings performance and management

  • Preparation of contract documentation, specifications and drawings

  • Coordination of work with others members of design teams

  • Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards

  • Compiling project reports

  • Conceptual design studies and reports

  • Keeping up to date with industry and technical developments and changes

  • Surveys and site inspections

  • Mentoring and development of junior engineers in the group
