BIM Designers play a critical role in delivering high quality data enriched models and the resulting drawings to our clients. Within the Arup team, this involves overall project planning, detailed design development and coordination between all disciplines, managing and adhering to office/Regional/client BIM standards. BIM Designers are at the forefront of digital production innovations (automation and data accessibility) and must be able to implement new tools on the fly and train others to do the same.
We are currently searching for a dynamic BIM Designer or a Senior BIM Designer with expertise in Electrical design and concept to join our expanding Electrical division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with design engineers from various subject areas, contributing your expertise to our multidisciplinary projects. The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with BIM team members and rail/civil engineers both internally and externally to plan and set up BIM models for civil engineering projects, ensuring accurate and efficient project delivery
- Utilize advanced BIM software (e.g., Autodesk, Bentley Systems) to create detailed design models for rail and civil design projects
- Implement, and enforce BIM standards in line with ISO 19650, ensuring alignment across projects.
Implement and maintain BIM standards and protocols. - Conduct clash detection and resolve design conflicts.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on design solutions.
- Generating detailed rail and civil engineering drawings and documentation, including equipment schedules, quantity takeoffs, and other project deliverables using model elements.
- Taking responsibility for own work and reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Setting up and managing project data environments, ensuring effective organization, storage, and accessibility of project data throughout the lifecycle.
- Provide technical support and training to project teams.
- Supervising and mentoring junior BIM designers, providing guidance and supporting their professional development.

Is this role right for you?
Qualifications:
At least 8 years of experience in rail or civil design projects.
- Fluent effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrable experience working with mid to large-scale rail and/or civil projects.
- Proficiency in BIM software from major software companies (e.g., Autodesk, Bentley Systems).
- Strong understanding of new technologies and their application in BIM.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in both technical and non-technical environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Consistent record of working in a team-based environment, demonstrating excellent planning and organization skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and willingness to take on new challenges.
- A proactive and highly motivated approach to work, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience. or a related field is preferred.
- Good knowledge of standards and procedures applicable in rail/civil projects.

Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $115,000 to $125,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note, hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
