The Opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Discipline Lead to join Arup's building services, our consultants are experts in innovative design and technical solutions. Combining expertise in mechanical, electrical and public health engineering, we design the infrastructure a building needs to delight the people who use it. This role will require travel to our Winchester office.
You will provide leadership to the MEP team on a portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally, having the duty of ensuring correct technical approaches are applied to the project and staff are of suitable capabilities to undertake the tasks.
You’ll have responsibility for the financial performance of the projects including liaising directly with clients on fees and commercial matters, effectively overseeing total project delivery by enabling effective team management and delegation to ensure the efficient and satisfactory delivery of multiple and complex projects, reporting to the Project Director.
We work on a variety of exciting projects, both in the UK and internationally. Some of these include Gordon Murray Design design and prototype facility, Hampshire Fire & Rescue Fire Stations, St. Sidwells Leisure Centre, Exeter. The first Passivhaus certified leisure centre in the UK, Data Centres (The UK, across Europe and Africa), Hotels (globally) and Healthcare projects (e.g. Southampton Hospital, New Jersey Hospital), West Slope, University of Sussex.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people who:
- Are degree qualified in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering, ideally to master level
- Have achieved Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership
- Have extensive experience in winning and delivering a range of projects.
- Are able to provide technical leadership of multi-discipline design teams including external sub-consultants
- Have strong awareness of appropriate sector-specific legislation, code requirements and design guidance and future trends
You’ll also need up to date knowledge and experience in the mechanical discipline in particular relation to the following sectors: Health Care, Higher Education, Laboratories, Industrial and Energy and Commercial & Mixed Use Developments.
