Asset Management Consultant- European Region Lead

Ideally based in either Germany or The Netherlands (or Ireland).

About the role

As our Asset Management Consultant, you will be shaping and delivering our Asset Management service and product offerings to a higher level. By applying our unique mix of technical and non-technical capabilities, you’ll be focusing on outcomes that will contribute to the success of our clients Your initial focus will be in Transport (Rail, Highways, Aviation), Water and Energy.

 

Project responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Coordinating the development, documentation and maintenance of infrastructure asset inventories, conditions, rating methodologies, levels of service and performance measures, risk scoring criteria, maintenance strategies, repair/replacement models, financial forecasts and work plans associated with all asset classes.
  • Providing asset management strategies and tools for strategic infrastructure and programme decision-making using system specific Asset Management Plans.
  • Establishing and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, building an effective asset risk mitigation programme to improve asset reliability, reduce risk, and optimise spending and capital investments.
  • Promoting the use of infrastructure asset management concepts and best practices in a strategic and practical manner across clients’ departments, including training to maximise the use and functionality of asset management software.
  • Developing project budgets and assisting in the preparation of annual operating budget, capital improvement program, long-range financial plans, rate studies and other related financial analysis.

 

Business Development responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop work which delivers short-term commercial benefit, and longer-term, builds and shapes our team size, services and capabilities in line with Group strategy.
  • Seek new opportunities to develop existing service lines and build new ones where there is untapped potential, even where some risk is involved.
  • Influence the direction of Arup’s work, develops business and wins work.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and acumen, including a strong track record in winning work.
  • Developing and supporting infrastructure asset management champions in Arup to lead organisational change.

 

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter, innovative and forward-thinking, curious, well-connected and able to build new relationships and opportunities, and willing to tackle new challenges.

  • Have in-depth knowledge and proven track record in the use and implementation of the ISO 55000 series (and/or PAS55). Preferably, also involved in a successful accreditation process.
  • A Depth of experience and expertise in some or all of the following asset management practices:
  • Policy and Strategy Development
  • Asset Inventory Architecture, Information Management, and Maintenance Systems
  • Risk Analyses and Management
  • Asset Investment Planning, Decision Making and Management
  • Levels of service and Performance framework development
  • Triple Bottom Line Evaluation
  • Management Systems Development, Review, and Auditing
  • Business Change Management/Business Process Improvement
  • Organisation & People
  • Assurance and Regulation
  • Have strong business development capabilities and the confidence to engage with the external market to source opportunities and future work.
  • Experience in project management related to infrastructure asset management
  • Experience working together with diverse teams including engineers, operations and maintenance staff, planners, and managers
  • Aptitude to apply your knowledge in Transport, Water and Energy
  • Excellent written and spoken English and presentation skills
  • Experience in asset management application training is an asset
  • Strong leadership competencies including organisational agility and building effective teams

 

Desirable awareness of and capability in: EU Action Plan, Green Deal, Taxonomy, Green finance, Climate resilience, Dutch/German language
