Architectural Assistant / Architect
Joining Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
Our London Architecture team works within a vibrant and diverse multidisciplinary environment, delivering innovative and technically complex projects. We are looking for a creative and motivated Architectural Assistant or Architect to support the design and delivery of major transport, sports and public infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
You will work alongside architects, engineers and specialist consultants, providing strong design and technical support throughout all stages of project development.
You will contribute to large-scale transport, aviation, rail, stadium, arena and sports projects, helping to develop creative, inclusive and sustainable environments that deliver high-quality experiences for users. Your responsibilities will include developing and coordinating architectural design packages, communicating ideas through sketches, models and visualisations, and resolving interfaces between architectural, structural, civil, building services and specialist requirements. You will have opportunities to strengthen your design and technical capabilities while contributing to projects from early concept through to detailed design and construction.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective, in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning, to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for people who have:
· A master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent, with at least two years’ post-RIBA Part 2 experience or an equivalent level of professional experience.
· Strong creative and analytical design skills, including 3D thinking and the ability to communicate ideas clearly through sketching, modelling and digital tools.
· Experience developing and coordinating architectural information within multidisciplinary teams, from concept through to detailed design or construction.
· Competency in Revit, Rhino or similar design software, with experience producing visualisations and renders being beneficial.
· A proactive, collaborative and well-organised approach, with excellent spoken and written English and an interest in sustainability, inclusive design and high-quality user experiences.
Experience working on major transport, aviation, rail, stadium, arena, sports or other large-scale public projects would be beneficial but is not essential.
