The opportunity
We seek an Acoustics Team Leader to support our Technical & Specialist Services Team in the delivery of a diverse range of projects covering many different business sectors.  Although you can expect to work on a broad portfolio of projects, we are particularly seeking candidates with demonstrable experience in building acoustics or environmental noise.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable candidate to take on a leadership role in one of the world’s leading consultancies, delivering “best in class” solutions to enhance the acoustic environment within buildings and in the wider environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in building acoustics or environmental noise and a willingness and enthusiasm to build on this together with the team and develop skills covering all aspects of acoustics within which Arup operates. You will also be supporting the business development team, including developing fee proposals; meeting with project teams and clients to develop opportunities; and presenting at external conferences and networking events.

Arup is well known for our international multi-disciplinary environment. Therefore, the team coordinates with multiple disciplines to provide total design solutions. The Acoustics team works in the local Dutch market, but also on European and global projects and has a strong focus on auralizations, immersive simulations and parametric design.

  • You are passionate about acoustic design and architecture, and their effects on people, cities, and health
  • You thrive within a team environment in collaboration with team members at all levels
  • You have expertise in environmental noise or building acoustic design projects across a range (but not all) of the sectors in which Arup works, including familiarity with building regulations.
  • You have a minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience in the acoustic consulting market and three to five years’ experience leading teams
  • You develop others by sharing technical experience/knowledge, provide guidance and feedback
  • You have proven team leadership and project management skills
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
  • You are a team player, pro-active, eager to succeed, able to deal with stress and an ambassador for our company.
