Our team works across a wide range of acoustic environments, whether it’s developing an incredible acoustic experience in concert halls or managing environmental noise from industrial activities. We take a people-centric, sensory approach to design, carefully considering the function of each individual space inside buildings, as well as the impact of buildings and transport systems on their surroundings (and vice-versa).

We combine insights from designers and advisors experienced in a wide range of project types, bringing cross-disciplinary and cross-market innovation to all our work. Collaborating with our audio-visual and theatre consulting teams we can also plan, design and integrate all the necessary infrastructure and systems into our solutions. And we have an in-house immersive installation to perform demonstrations of acoustic and virtual recreation in 360º that we use to assist with the de sign of our projects.

The Opportunity

This is your chance to join the acoustics team, an area dedicated to engineering offering acoustic consulting services and project modeling in the virtual reality environment, for example in office buildings, concert halls, stadiums, outdoor spaces, etc.

As an Acoustic Specialist at Arup, you will participate in:

• Acoustic Assessments and Analysis: Conducts studies and measurements of environmental, industrial, and infrastructure noise using specialized equipment and acoustic modelling software such as SoundPLAN, CADNA“A”, or IMMI.
• Design and Planning of Acoustic Solutions: Collaborates with architects, engineers, and urban planners to design and plan solutions that improve the acoustic quality of buildings, public spaces, and infrastructures.
• Preparation of Technical Reports: Drafts detailed reports on the studies and analyses conducted, providing recommendations and solutions to mitigate noise and improve acoustic quality.
• Support in the realization of digital audio processing for acoustic auralization.
• Creation of virtual environments with models, Unreal, Rhino, Unity, etc.

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic that is willing to develop their career in the acoustics field. Ideally, you’ll bring:

• A degree in architecture or engineering (such as, telecommunications, telecommunication systems, sound and image).
• 3-5 years of previous professional experience in acoustics with emphasis in programming, digital treatment and audio processing: (Max, Unity) or architectural acoustics.
• A special interest in architectural acoustics and audio signal processing.
• Advanced knowledge of Matlab or similar, Unity, Audacity, Audition or similar.
• Experience in creating 3D models and virtual reality models: Unreal, Rhino, Unity.
• Fluent level of written and spoken English and Spanish languages.
• Good communication skills.

Bonus points if you have:

Knowledge of virtual reality.

A master's degree in acoustic engineering.
